October 19, 2022 College Presents Second Symposium to Examine Regional Globalism in the Tennessee Valley

The University of Tennessee College of Architecture and Design announces the second in its two-part symposium series, Regional Globalism in the Tennessee Valley. The symposium will take place Nov. 3, 1-7 p.m., at Relix Variety Theatre, 1208 N. Central Street. It is free and open to the public, and registration is not required. The symposium also will be livestreamed.

The Nov. 3 symposium convenes internationally recognized design research practices, , , and , to discuss their work on the region. Using design as a speculative medium, their work explores key questions and provocations for the Tennessee Valley as a region with global implications.

Expert presentations will examine influences on the past and future development in the Tennessee Valley. Topics include biomass as a transformational agent in shaping the valley; agricultural research, water stress and renewable energy; and data equity, housing access, energy paradigm shifts and food insecurity. .

The Regional Globalism in the Tennessee Valley symposium series convenes leading design scholars, practitioners, artists and experts in many fields as part of a larger effort by the College of Architecture and Design to generate and disseminate sustained scholarship on issues related to the region through a design perspective.
